Karla Van Winkle has built a diverse career spanning education and human resources, grounded in a strong foundation of leadership and talent development. Beginning as a high school English teacher, she spent nearly a decade in the classroom before moving into school leadership roles as a principal and administrator. During this time, she led initiatives such as launching a Freshman Academy at Michigan City High School and presenting at statewide principals conferences, demonstrating her commitment to student success and system improvement.
After earning her superintendent’s license from Ball State University, Karla transitioned into the corporate world, where she focused on human resources and organizational development. Since 2014, she has earned both SHRM-SCP and SPHR certifications, reflecting her expertise in talent strategy and leadership. Across both education and HR, her work has centered on developing people, strengthening systems, and driving meaningful growth.
